His youtube site also has filming during the milongas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6115345479350954256.post-84706247091997108402010-05-01T11:10:18.597+01:002010-05-01T11:10:18.597+01:00Thanks, Cassiel, and welcome back. My only interest is in getting a precious DVD with good videos of all those wonderful old dancers on it! Of course if there's anything I can do to help anyone else carry out the idea, then I'll be really delighted.

Cherie, thanks so much. An 'endorsement' from you is really encouraging because you know these people and you're in their environment on a daily basis. As you say, it would be difficult to do, but I'm really glad you don't dismiss the idea out of hand!

I think it would be possible, although difficult, for a few enthusiasts with some money and basic equipment to arrive in BsAs and go ahead with local help. However, a better film might result if an Argentine company, was involved, perhaps as a co-production with a European company willing to put some money into it. The obvious name there would be Caroline Neal, whose Si sos brujo is a marvelous documentary of the Orquesta Escuela. The enthusiasts could produce excellent footage that might not get widely seen except on YouTube, whereas a company would be under pressure to make a quality film, show it publicly and sell it on DVD. & if someone like Caroline Neal was involved, you know the culture would be treated with respect, and the film would be excellent.

Marie, I'm so impressed with Irene and Man Yung's films! They show how much wonderful dancing there is out there, and that some really great film can be made just by asking permission.Tangocommuterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14060601718946750364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6115345479350954256.post-35513867438438603832010-04-30T17:38:40.498+01:002010-04-30T17:38:40.498+01:00Like everyone else - I think this a wonderful, des...Like everyone else - I think this a wonderful, desperately needed project and also have no funding. :( However, we are slowly getting tiny glimpses of beautiful social tango here and there - I'm grateful for that at least. Have you seen the videos that Irene and Many Yung have posted? http://ireneandmanyung.blogspot.com/ Very refreshing (and more than a little comforting to see social tango on youtube.) :)Marihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08960763038363579526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6115345479350954256.post-1298412099107791542010-04-30T13:37:05.238+01:002010-04-30T13:37:05.238+01:00Great idea!
